Here you will find details on the entry process, the different types of stores that can be opened on Tmall.com, and the documents required to get started and launch your store. Be sure you're ready to invest the necessary time and resources into your store launch, as opening and running a store on Tmall.com will require strong commitment. Entry process:

1. Entry Prep

· Determine compatibility and resource requirements
· Assess prerequisites
· Determine needs from third party service providers (TPs)
· Create logistics plan
· Prepare necessary documents
· Reserve technical resources
· Begin API integration
· Complete negotiations and sign contracts with TPs

2. Store Application

· Sign Tmall.com/Alipay agreement
· Open Alipay compatible bank account

3. Store Development

· Plan product offering (SKUs)
· Plan product categories
· Plan pricing model
· Establish customer service team
· Build store page with products
· Build product detail pages
· Develop and execute API integration

4. Pre-Launch

· Develop new opening plan
· Develop promotion plan
· Upload store pages to Tmall.com
· API integration online

5. Launch

· Store live on Tmall.com

Required Documents Download

Store types:

1. Flagship Store

Merchant is the brand (trademark) owner, or possesses exclusive authorization from the brand owner when opening their storefront on Tmall.com

Flagship Stores may open under the following circumstances:
1. Store sells and acts on the behalf of a single brand that is owned by the merchant opening the store
2. Store sells and acts on the behalf of multiple brands that are all owned by the merchant opening the store*
3. Store sells and acts on the behalf of a multi-brand marketplace (service class trademark) owned by the merchant opening the store*

*Requires special approval from Tmall.com

2. Authorized Store

Merchant holds authorization documents from the brand owner to open a store on Tmall.com.
Authorized Stores may open under the following circumstances:

1. Store authorized to sell products from one brand
2. Store authorized to sell products from multiple brands, but all brands belong to the same entity*

The authorization documents from the brand (trademark) owner must not be subject to regional restrictions and the period of validity must not end before Dec 31, 2013.

*Requires special approval from Tmall.com

3. Specialty Store

Merchant sells products of two or more brands that belong to the same product category.
Specialty Stores may open under the following circumstances:

1. Store sells products from two or more brands that the merchant does not own
2. Store sells products from a brand (trademark) owned by the merchant and also sells products from a brand not owned by the merchant
3. Store sells products from two or more brands that the merchant owns

A single merchant may only apply to open one Specialty Store within a single product category.
